Sanika Pendse

In this series, we take a look at some of the bright and knowledgeable people behind our success here at AdEdge Water Technologies and see how they tackle their day-to-day challenges. Today we are here with Project Manager Sanika Pendse.

I feel proud to be working a job that provides me an opportunity to give back to communities in the form of clean water.

What is your role at AdEdge?

It is my responsibility to oversee the project right from when the contract is in, all the way through startup and commissioning.

How did you get into your particular field? What motivates you about your work?

I decided to study environmental engineering for my master's [degree] because I have been to places where people have had to struggle to get access to clean water, which is such a basic need. Therefore working in the water industry after my master's degree was a natural progression for me.

The thing that motivates me the most about my work is the positive impact that clean water has on communities. Just recently, I got an opportunity to work on a project for a community [that] was getting actual reddish-colored water in their homes! Being able to help out in such instances is what motivates me the most at work.

How did you end up working at AdEdge? What do you enjoy most about your job?

When I was still in grad school, I got an opportunity to intern at AdEdge over the summer, and since I enjoyed my time at AdEgde as an intern, I applied for a full-time position and started right after I graduated.

Since project management involves a lot of moving pieces that need to be co-ordinated meticulously, I love the dynamism this brings to my job. Everyday is different and fun, and hence there is no monotony!

What are your morning habits? Do you snooze? Do you make or buy breakfast?

I am a morning person, so my day starts around 5:30 am with a cup of hot chai. I also do some yoga and meditation before I get my work day started. I hardly ever buy breakfast from outside, as I work from home.

What’s the first thing you do when you get in to the office?

I typically go over any emails that are still unanswered from the previous day, and ensure to get them answered before I dive into the work for the day.

What do you feel most proud of in your job? What are some challenges or obstacles you face?

I feel proud to be working a job that provides me an opportunity to give back to communities in the form of clean water.

As dynamic as project management is, it also means that I need to stay on top of all tasks for each project I am managing. Therefore, successfully navigating through various tasks for various projects is quite challenging.

What music are you listening to this week?

I normally listen to a lot of Hindi music, but this week I have been listening to John Mayer.

Do you keep any unique possessions at your desk?

My desk has very minimal things, with just a photo of my husband and me from our wedding, other than a few work essentials. I also always have a bottle of water at my desk.

What’s something you always do before you leave for the day?

Before I leave for the day, I evaluate my to-do list for that day, and make one for the next day based on what is still left to do. This helps me jump right into work the following morning!
